Founded in 2015, the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts, Inc. (BECMA) is a statewide organization that advances the economic well-being of Black businesses, organizations, and people through advocacy, business and leadership development, and strategic partnerships. We are a startup organization that is dedicated to eliminating the racial wealth gap for Black people across the diaspora in Massachusetts through entrepreneurship and the development of a strong Black professional class.

What You’ll Do

The Social Media Manager will ultimately be responsible for:

Strategy

  • Brainstorming and assisting the digital marketing manager with execution of monthly digital marketing campaigns for the organization’s social media platforms, email marketing, website, and overall digital presence 
  • Identify opportunities to increase follower count and increase brand awareness via an organic and paid social content strategy to cultivate deeper conversation and earned media

Management

  • Engaging with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews
  • Enforcing the organization’s social media policy and training staff/board as needed 
  • Enforcing uniform branding across all departments and digital platforms 
  • Training and supporting the management of BECMA communications interns 

Execution

  • Executing on monthly social media campaigns, including creating and posting daily social media content on all social media platforms
  • Consulting with the department on exploring new social media platforms that will advance the mission and communications goals of the organization 
  • Providing support on executing virtual and in-person events 

 

What We’re Looking For
A successful candidate will possess most or all of the following:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge on issues affecting Black business owners and community at-large
  • Knowledge of and passion for Black issues, including racism, racial justice, and economic development
  • Two or more years providing support for senior leadership in a fast-paced environment

Skills

  • Excellent time/project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, organizational, customer service, and research skills
  • Fanatical attention to details
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive products
  • Self-motivated with an exceptional commitment to seeing tasks through to completion at a quality level
  • Strong and confident leadership along with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong communication and presentation skills along with the ability to think on one’s feet
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including members, staff, board members, donors, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail

Abilities

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing work environment/schedule
  • Ability to learn new software and databases
  • Ability to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to travel to different locations within the borders of Massachusetts
  • Ability to work independently and with professional discretion
  • Ability to work with a broad range of people including members, external partners, donors, board of directors, staff, and senior leadership

 

What You’ll Get
This is a full-time position located at BECMA headquarters in Downtown Boston. However, so long as there remains a public health emergency due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, team members are not expected to work from the office. Those who do wish to work from the office location are expected to be fully vaccinated or to provide a negative COVID test prior to each visit.

The person in this position will receive:

  • Competitive salary, with a range between $55,000 – $65,000 commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience
