WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2015, the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA) is a statewide organization that advances the economic well-being of Black businesses, organizations, and people through advocacy, business and leadership development, and strategic partnerships. We are dedicated to eliminating the racial wealth gap for Black people across the diaspora in Massachusetts through innovative approaches to equitable opportunities.
WHAT WE’RE LIKE
BECMA is a growing organization with a transformative mission and startup environment, led by a team of passionate individuals who are committed to achieving the urgent and important goal of eliminating the racial wealth gap. This is not your typical 9-5. With that in mind, you can look forward to a work environment that is:
- Mission-driven: We are committed to excellence in all we do and put in the time and effort required to achieve our goals, no matter how long it takes.
- Member-led: As the chief advocate for Black business owners across the state, all of our efforts respond to the real-time needs and long-term issues of our members.
- Empowering: We believe in supporting leaders who are forward-thinking, independent, risk-takers, and confident.
- Collaborative: We understand that our work is interrelated and interdependent. We don’t operate in silos.
- Supportive: We create an environment that provides the physical, emotional, and intellectual space and tools to accomplish your tasks and exceed internal and external expectations.
- Innovative: We know it’s better to work smart and are always seeking creative ways to move us closer to our goals and leverage new ways of learning and working together.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the organization grows, so has its vision of expanding its membership base, impact, and service delivery across the Commonwealth, while continuing pivotal advocacy and policy victories. To meet these expanding demands with a solid organizational infrastructure, BECMA will hire an Impact Evaluation Manager to collect, measure, synthesize, and use data to provide key insights for improving programs and services meant to eliminate the persistent racial wealth gap.
This newly created role is a highly cross-functional one that will work with BECMA’s President and CEO and Senior Leadership Team to collect data to help develop insights into the experiences of BECMA members and the broader MA Black community — aiding in the revision or creation of needed programming — and to help determine the impact of these programs on the problem(s) the organization is seeking to address.
The person in this role will manage data collection processes for BECMA’s programs and actively put performance data to use for monitoring the issues facing the MA Black economy and for enhancing BECMA’s programs. The Impact Evaluation Manager will execute and help build cutting-edge measurement tools and processes that center equity and advance the organization’s ability to measure its impact over time. Ultimately, this person should be a self-motivated, proactive, logical thinker with the ability to synthesize and distill complex information from different resources into simple language, have excellent interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders across the broader ecosystem, and be comfortable with managing multiple projects with competing demands. The role will require excellent organization and communication skills.
A successful candidate will execute the following roles and responsibilities as well as other duties as assigned:
- Develop and manage the process and framework(s) for regular reporting of progress and the creation of compelling reports with nuanced analysis and presentations on data and trends
- Articulate the agenda and approach of BECMA’s impact objectives in a formal impact management framework
- Ensure BECMA’s data collection is aligned and integrated, in a timely manner

- Verify and refine key social impact metrics with the Senior Leadership team
- Systematically capture learnings, best practices and successes.
- Develop and implement a process to extract and capture insights from relevant stakeholders utilizing tools such as discussion prompts, focus groups, surveys, etc.
- Ensure insights are synthesized, communicated and accessible to all BECMA stakeholders
- Facilitate key meetings that provide the President & CEO and Senior Leadership team with insights into the health and progress of the organization and its programming, as well as the status of its members
- Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing dashboards, status reports, etc. to the President & CEO and the Senior Leadership team on trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Work closely with the Communications team to establish an effective communications plan for online resources and tools to help cascade knowledge across the organization and to the wider community, including ensuring the evaluation and learning resources we produce are communicated in a clear and accessible way
